Accessibility Statement
What we've built into this site, what we know still falls short, and how to tell us when something doesn't work for you. We'd rather publish the gaps than claim a conformance we haven't independently verified.

Our commitment
We build websites for a living, so a site of ours that locks people out would be a poor advertisement. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA across aleradigital.com, and we treat accessibility as part of the build rather than a pass at the end.
What this site does
Specific, verifiable things — not a list of intentions:
- Semantic structure. Real landmarks (
header, nav, main, footer), a singleh1per page, and headings in order, so screen-reader navigation by region and heading works. - Skip link. Every page starts with a "Skip to content" link that jumps past the navigation.
- Keyboard operable. Every interactive element is a real button or link. The services list, the portfolio filters and the image lightbox all work from the keyboard — the lightbox takes arrow keys, closes on Escape, and returns focus to the item you opened.
- Visible focus. Focus outlines are not removed; they're styled to stay visible against every background on the site.
- Text alternatives. Every content image has descriptive alternative text. Decorative graphics and animated backgrounds are marked
aria-hiddenso they aren't announced. - Reduced motion. The site honours
prefers-reduced-motion. If your device asks for less motion, the animated hero, the auto-advancing demonstrations and the transitions stop. - Colour contrast. Body text sits at 8.4:1 and headings at 18.6:1 against the page, both above the AA threshold. Muted labels were darkened twice in October 2026 — from 3.6:1, which failed, to 4.8:1 — after an audit found them below the minimum. Inline links in body copy carry an underline, so they are never signalled by colour alone.
- No motion traps. Nothing auto-plays with sound, nothing flashes, and no carousel moves on its own once you interact with it.
- Stable layout. Images declare their dimensions so content doesn't jump while the page loads.
- Zoom and reflow. The layout reflows to 320px and tolerates 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling or clipped content.
Known limitations
Stated plainly, because a statement that claims everything is fine is not worth reading:
- No independent audit. Our conformance claim is based on our own testing. The site has not been assessed by a third-party accessibility auditor, and we don't describe it as certified.
- Automated testing. Every page is checked against the WCAG 2.1 A and AA rule set using axe-core. At the last run, all twelve pages returned zero violations. Automated tools catch perhaps a third of real barriers, so this is a floor and not a finish line.
- Limited assistive-technology testing. We test with keyboard navigation, automated tooling and browser inspection. We have not tested every page against every screen reader and version.
- The booking calendar is third-party. Our Book a Call page embeds a scheduler served by Cal.com. Its accessibility is outside our control. If it doesn't work for you, email contact@aleradigital.com and we will book the call for you by email — you will not be disadvantaged for not using it.
- Portfolio images carry text. The campaign and website designs on Our Work are images, and the headline copy inside them is part of the artwork. Alternative text describes each one, but the text within an image cannot be resized or re-styled by your browser.
- The animated hero. The home page hero is a rendered graphic. It is decorative, hidden from assistive technology, and disabled under reduced-motion settings, but it is not meaningful content for anyone who can't see it — the page's message is carried by the heading text beside it.
Tell us when something doesn't work
This is the part that actually matters. If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, we want to hear about it, and we will fix it rather than argue about it.
Email contact@aleradigital.com and tell us what page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what happened. If it helps, mention the browser and any assistive technology you use.
- We aim to acknowledge within 7 business days.
- We aim to resolve it, or give you a plan with a date on it, within 20 business days.
- If something is blocking you right now, say so and we'll give you the information or complete the task for you by email or phone in the meantime. You should never have to wait for a code change to get served.
You can also write to us at Alera Digital, 1001 Bishop St. STE 2685A, Honolulu, HI 96813.
Work we build for clients
Accessibility is part of how we build client websites too, and we'll tell a client plainly when a design choice they've asked for creates a barrier. Where a client supplies content, platform or third-party components we don't control, we'll say so rather than imply a conformance we can't deliver.
If you've encountered an accessibility problem on a site we built for someone else, tell us anyway and we will pass it to them.
Reviewing this statement
We review this page when the site changes materially, and at least annually. The date at the top reflects the last review.
